Caring for Anxious Dogs
Some dogs need extra time and support to feel comfortable in a new environment. If your dog struggles with anxiety, fear of strangers, or has had previous negative experiences, we offer a personalised approach to help them gain confidence at their own pace.
This process is highly personalised and takes time. It is best to get in touch as soon as possible to ensure we have plenty of time. With persistence and patience, most dogs can learn to cope well with the boarding experience. However, we cannot guarantee success.
A Gradual and Gentle Approach
We work closely with you and your dog over an extended period, using:
- Regular Visits & Walks – Building familiarity with our surroundings.
- One-on-One Meetings – Creating trust through positive interactions.
- Gentle Training Exercises – Helping reduce anxiety around handling and new experiences.
- Short kennel visits, starting at around 2 hours, help build a positive association without throwing the dog in at the deep end.
- Short kennel stays, starting at one night, gradually build up the duration of your dog’s stay before a longer holiday for you both.
This step-by-step process allows us to move at a pace that suits your dog, ensuring they feel safe and secure. Every dog is different, and we tailor our approach to meet their individual needs.

A Long-Term Goal: Stress-Free Boarding
By taking the time to build confidence gradually, we aim to make boarding a positive and stress-free experience. Whether it takes weeks or months, we focus on progress at a pace that suits your dog.
This is a dedicated service requiring ongoing support and commitment. If you think your dog could benefit, we’d be happy to discuss a plan that works for them.
